At Wroxton we have decided to venture out with our love of the British short hair cat. The British short hair has a distinctively stocky body, dense yet crisp coat and a broad face. You may have seen that the most popular colour of the british is the beautiful british blue. The british blue has a blue-grey coat with vivid copper/orange eyes. The british have a calm temperament and are good with children.
In the 1900's with newly imported breeds such as the persian and other long haired breeds, the british breeding stock had become rare by the time world war 1 had started. To alleviate this, british breeders introduced persians into their bloodlines, thus introducing the british long hair. There is some controversy in Australia with the british long hair being bred, and you'll find strong opinions about this. We breed both here at Wroxton and have been lucky enough to import worldwide to have varied diversification with our bloodlines. We do not sell british breeding cats.
To continue about the breed, the british has a large chest with strong thick set legs, rounded paws and a medium sized tail. The head should be large and rounded with a short muzzle. They have broad cheeks and large round eyes that are a deep coppery orange colour in the british blue, otherwise they vary in colour from blue to green depending on the coat colour.
We expect our next litter of british towards the end of the next year and will update with photos as the time comes. We are currently working with a few different wonderful and knowledgeable BSH breeders and our new imports will arrive next year.
